Very generous donations by K of C, to One More Soul Canada. September 2008, the Knights of Columbus (Saskatchewan) present a grant to One More Soul Canada to assist with our NFP Awareness Week project and our Marriage Preparation Project. And in June 2009, Ed Gibney of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus State Council presents a donation to the Theology of the Body conference to Val Witzaney of One More Soul Canada. Thank you so very much. |

2010
NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING AWARENESS WEEK
JULY 25-31
Posters are ideal for parishes, hospitals, NFP classrooms, Marriage preparation sites, doctors' offices, Family Life Centers, and Campus Ministry Centers. Contact us for more details.
The
Church teaches that the sacrament of marriage symbolizes Christ's
relationship with His Church. What is this relationship but one of generous,
self-sacrificing passion-filled and fruitful love! When couples live their
vocation according to Church teachings, especially with regard to the
transmission of life, many benefits can be reaped. Indeed, married couples
who use Natural Family Planning (NFP) report that the benefits include:
better communication between spouses; deeper understanding of each other's
bodies and consequent growth in respect and awe of God's gift of fertility;
growth in patience and emotional maturity; growth in understanding of the
supreme gift of children; and growth in holiness as they seek to place God
as the head of the household.
The following are meant to aid the priest or deacon in planning his homily
during NFP Awareness week. The homily is not the place where details of NFP
methodology are provided, rather, the core of the Church's teachings which
support NFP in marriage should be highlighted. Pastors should try to have
NFP teachers at some Masses where they can distribute NFP brochures or
booklets and answer question.
PLEASE contact One More Soul (1-866-9-OMSOUL) or with our online catalague for all of the literature and brochures you may need. In addition, we offer 'CONTRACEPTION, WHY NOT' by Dr. Janet Smith, at no charge with your order.
SUGGESTED HOMILY USED WITH NFP - download this for your pastor.
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL (Petitions) - you can download these prayers and use them at home, or introduce them to your pastor at church so they can be used at Mass.
PRAYERS TO SAY WITH YOUR FAMILY. Pass these around so we can storm heaven all together! Grace builds on nature. A little effort, some time set aside each day, can bear much fruit; whether we see the results or not. God is good. Praise be Jesus Christ!

> taken from a letter to OMS Canada after the 2009 National Theology of the Body Conference in Saskatoon SK
My husband, Ray, and I write to you on the day
following a life-changing moment in our relationship with each other and
with God. After having participated in the National Theology of the Body
Conference here in Saskatoon with Christopher West and other fabulous
speakers, the Holy Spirit led us to the same conclusion during the many
wonderful, inspirational and heart-shaping talks and speeches.
In September 2006, during a very difficult time in our marriage, we decided
to have a vasectomy in the hopes of bringing us closer together. I’m sure
you’ve heard that before, and I’m sure you’ve heard also that all it brought
us was regret… We’ve both confessed this sin but struggle with the lingering
effects of that division from God. Now, almost three years later, we’ve come
to understand God’s intensions for family and for marital love. We see with
great clarity that we are unable to completely give of ourselves as a
married couple to our Lord and still withhold our fertility. By withholding
our fertility, we are saying “Lord, we do not trust in You.” Learning the
truth about marital love and God’s plans for us, was at the same time
heartbreaking to know the depth of what we had done and enlightening to know
that we had options in which to right the wrong and grow ever closer to our
Lord.
A vasectomy reversal can right the wrong, which is why we write to you. One
of the speakers had introduced One More Soul and spoke of your services and
connections to Catholic doctors who support Catholic teachings, including
vasectomy reversals and natural family planning. We hope to proceed with
this as soon as possible. Do you have any contacts in Saskatoon that might
help us? We hope this doctor will be able to take us under their umbrella of
patients, not just for this one procedure, but for our family needs
thereafter.
I look forward to hearing from you and with sincere appreciation, thank you
for your efforts and involvement in bringing the National Theology of the
Body Conference and the teachings of the Great Pope John Paul II into our
lives and our hearts.

Prayer for Married
Couples
Almighty and eternal God,
You blessed the union of married couples
so that they might reflect the union of Christ
with his Church:
look with kindness on them.
Renew their marriage covenant,
increase your love in them,
and strengthen their bond of peace
so that, with their children,
they may always rejoice in the gift of
your blessing.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Families
We bless your name, O Lord,
for sending your own incarnate Son,
to become part of a family,
so that, as he lived its life,
he would experience its worries and its joys.
We ask you, Lord,
to protect and watch over this family,
so that in the strength of your grace
its members may enjoy prosperity,
possess the priceless gift of your peace,
and, as the Church alive in the home,
bear witness in this world to your glory.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Prayer for Fathers
God, you are the giver of all life, human and divine.
Bless our father.
May he be the best of teachers for his children,
bearing witness to the faith
by what he says and does,
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Life
Father and maker of all,
you adorn all creation
with splendor and beauty,
and fashion human lives
in your image and likeness.
Awaken in every heart
reverence for the work of your hands,
and renew among your people
a readiness to nurture and sustain
your precious gift of life.
Grant this through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in
the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
