is a not-for-profit Canadian Apostolate dedicated to spreading the truth about the blessings of children and the harms of contraception. We are in Canada and offer the same excellent variety of educational resources, including tapes, videos, and books that is available in the US at omsoul.com. One More Soul (OMS) in the
USA, is a non-profit Apostolate dedicated to spreading the truth about the harms of contraception and the blessings of children. Steve Koob and Mary Ann Walsh, two Dayton, Ohio, pro-life leaders, founded OMS in 1993. They learned that the foundation of abortion is contraception, and that contraception must be discontinued before other social ills could end, including abortion.
Steve and Mary Ann felt a responsibility to share what they had learned with their fellow pro-lifers, Christians, and the world. They decided to do this by distributing educational resources explaining the truth about contraception, and promoting a pro-child attitude.

The name “One More Soul” sprang from their hope that through the grace of God and their efforts, “one more soul” would be created for the kingdom of God. Since the creation of a soul is more awesome than the creation of the universe, one soul would easily justify all their efforts.
OMS Canada emerged from these efforts in Saskatchewan in 2001.
What does One More Soul believe?
We at One More Soul are convinced that contraception does immeasurable harm to women, marriages and society. We have come to realize that contraceptive use destroys marriages. We know that the side effects of using contraception (especially hormonal contraceptives like the Pill, Norplant, and Depo-Provera) are very dangerous to a woman’s health -- even life threatening. Women have been misguided about these health risks. Our apostolate provides information about doctors and pharmacists who have discontinued providing contraceptives to their patients and instead prescribe healthier alternatives.
We understand that contraception is spiritually harmful. Contraception is against God’s will as can be determined from human nature, the Bible, and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. We believe that contraception is firmly linked to abortion, and that the massive abortion industry would not exist were it not for today’s contraceptive mindset. We recognize that contraception not only encourages extramarital sex, but also makes it plausible. Contraception separates conception from intercourse so perversely that people “forget” that having sex makes babies. When a child is conceived, that child is not the anticipated end-result of sex, but an unexpected “problem.” That problem is all too often solved by abortion.

We understand that, sadly, many people who use contraception are not aware (and have never been informed) of the consequences of their choice. We believe that every child is a supreme gift, no matter what the circumstances of his or her conception. We know there can be some very painful circumstances surrounding pregnancy. However, we believe, as it says in Psalm 127, “Children are a gift from God.” We have no doubt that the most generous and loving statement any persons could make is, “We will lovingly accept all the children God gives us.”
We understand that parenting is a tremendous opportunity for salvation, and a considerable challenge. We endorse natural family planning methods for helping to achieve or avoid pregnancy when “just and serious” reasons make it necessary. NFP methods have proven worldwide to be safe and effective (over 99%), which is comparable to any of the artificial methods of contraception without any of the health hazards. Also NFP will often increase communication and produce harmony within marriage.
What does One More Soul do?
One More Soul operates as a mail/phone/electronic order apostolate and as a clearinghouse for information and resources. We offer the best CDs and DVDs, books, and pamphlets available on the effects of contraception and the blessings of children.
We also network with NFP groups all across the nation with the goal of uniting them with this cause. We encourage donations for our materials and for extending our apostolate.
What does One More Soul have to offer?
Our most popular and powerful resource is a presentation titled “Contraception: Why Not?” by Professor Janet E. Smith, Ph.D., on audio and video tape. Professor Smith teaches at the Archdiocese of Detroit’s Sacred Heart Major Seminary, is a Consultor to the Pontifical Council For the Family, and has spoken to audiences all over the world on the topic of contraception. In her logical, witty, non-judgmental way, she explains clearly what the Catholic Church teaches and why. While not neglecting figures and statistics, she uses common sense, and many personal anecdotes to make the presentation universally enjoyable and enlightening. We offer so many excellent books and pamphlets that it isn’t possible to review them all here.

How can I support One More Soul?
First, please pray for us. We and our Apostolate need spiritual nourishment. Make us a daily intention during your prayer time, or offer a Mass or a rosary for us. We would be most grateful.
